The nobility of Sangiovese, a journey into the heart of Montepulciano with La Braccesca

The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG by La Braccesca is born from the harmonious union of Sangiovese, a historical variety of the region, with a small share of Merlot, giving the wine a strong character, balance and elegance. The La Braccesca estate, spread over 508 hectares, has a fascinating history, rooted in the ancient farm of the Bracci counts, symbol of its identity. Its property, held by the Marchesi Antinori since 1990, includes 340 hectares of vineyards located between the municipalities of Montepulciano and Cortona, in the renowned sub-areas of Cervognano, Santa Pia and Gracciano.

The climate of 2020 played a crucial role in defining the qualities of this wine. A mild and rainy winter preceded a dry spring, favoring optimal budding of the vines. The summer was characterized by a dry and hot climate, with significant temperature variations between day and night, which allowed ideal ripening and perfect health of the grapes. The harvest began on September 17th and ended on October 5th.

The winemaking process involves the separate harvesting of grapes by variety, followed by alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The maceration, which lasted 7-10 days, allowed the extraction of the sweetest tannins, after which the wine was transferred to large barrels for malolactic fermentation and maturation for approximately 12 months. Before marketing in the spring of 2023, the wine underwent further refinement in the bottle.

From an organoleptic point of view, La Braccesca Nobile di Montepulciano has a ruby red color and brilliant reflections. The bouquet is a mix of fresh notes of violet and violet, citrus aromas such as blood orange and cherry, enriched with sweet vanilla hints. On the palate, it stands out for its elegance, freshness and soft, velvety tannins. The finish is long and persistent, with pleasant spicy and vanilla notes.

The soil of the estate, rich in stone and sandy loam, helps to outline the distinctive character of this wine.
