Scabrezza, Antinori's wine jewel, presents itself as a poetic homage to Tuscany and its most illustrious son, Dante Alighieri. This Pinot Grigio, grown exclusively on the Monteloro estate, near Florence, embodies the fusion between art, literature and wine, offering a unique sensorial experience.
The Monteloro Estate, located at the foot of the Apennines, extends for 600 hectares, of which 94 are dedicated to vines. This territory, known for its cool climate and rich mineral soils, is ideal for growing aromatic varieties such as Riesling and Pinot Blanc. In the past, these places were the scene of the summers of aristocratic Florentine families, including that of Beatrice Portinari and Dante Alighieri, who left an indelible mark on the history and culture of the place.
Scabrezza stands out for its delicate copper color, obtained thanks to a brief maceration of the skins, typical of Pinot Grigio. The 2022 harvest was characterized by a cold start to the season, followed by a spring with above-average temperatures and moderate rainfall, ideal conditions for optimal flowering and fruiting. The grapes, harvested early in the morning, were subjected to a short maceration, followed by delicate pressing and fermentation at a controlled temperature.
On the palate, Scabrezza 2022 reveals an intense and balanced aromatic profile, with notes of citrus, pear and aromatic herbs, culminating in a pleasantly persistent finish. Its connection with Dante is reflected not only in the terroir, but also in the label, which bears one of the verses that the Supreme Poet dedicated to Beatrice in the Divine Comedy, making it a tribute to their immortal love story.
Scabrezza is therefore more than a wine: it is a celebration of history, culture and poetry, embodied in a glass of Pinot Grigio. With every sip, you can perceive the essence of Tuscany, a land rich in beauty, history and mysticism.
