Sabazio rosso di Montepulciano, a historical celebration in the bottle

The wine history of Montepulciano is admirably intertwined in Sabazio Rosso di Montepulciano DOC, a wine that celebrates heritage and innovation. Its origin dates back to medieval times, bringing with it the winemaking tradition and art of that era. Combining the freshness of Sangiovese with the fruity liveliness of Merlot, Sabazio offers a fascinating representation of the ancient territory of Montepulciano.

The 2022 vintage was characterized by a mild climate in winter and spring, with an absence of rain which favored sowing and green manure. Despite a delay in budding and a hailstorm in June, the harvest produced excellent quality grapes, with a perfect balance between structure and aroma.

The winemaking was careful to preserve the aromatic characteristics of the varieties: the destemmed and pressed grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks, with malolactic fermentation and refinement for approximately 4 months before bottling.

From a sensorial point of view, Sabazio 2022 stands out for its ruby red color, with fruity notes of black cherry and blood orange combined with floral hints of violet. On the palate, it is fresh, energetic, with velvety tannins and good flavor, creating a complex and pleasant tasting experience.

Tenuta La Braccesca, which hosts the production of this wine, extends over 508 hectares with vineyards located among the renowned sub-areas of Montepulciano. This estate, now owned by the Marchesi Antinori, continues to perpetuate the winemaking tradition of the area, maintaining a strong link with its history and its land.
