Tenuta Pian delle Vigne, a jewel set in the heart of Montalcino, is the birthplace of one of Tuscany's most appreciated wines: Rosso di Montalcino DOC. Owned by the historic Antinori family since 1995, this estate extends for 184 hectares, of which 65 are dedicated to viticulture, positioned on clay-limestone soils at approximately 130 meters above sea level.
The climate of 2021 played a crucial role in the quality of this wine. A mild winter with little rain and a hot, dry summer favored optimal ripening of the grapes, harvested in mid-September in ideal conditions. The winemaking process took place in stainless steel tanks, with alcoholic fermentation at 25°C for 8-10 days, followed by a refinement period of approximately 10 months.
The result is a wine that celebrates pure Sangiovese, a historic variety of Montalcino, giving a Rosso di Montalcino that stands out for its freshness, minerality and great drinkability. On the nose, Pian delle Vigne Rosso di Montalcino DOC offers a bouquet of citrus fruits, fresh red fruit, cherries, strawberries, and notes of lavender and tobacco. On the palate, it is fresh and fruity, with vibrant tannins that lead to a long and savory finish, finishing with a floral aftertaste.
